
Beverly A. Tyler has more than 20 years of experience working in rural communities. Her background includes the development and implementation of health education and health improvement programs, conducting community needs assessments, and directing qualitative research studies to understand the attitudes and values of rural residents regarding health care issues. She has been the principle investigator for dozens of projects that have encompassed hundreds of focus groups, citizen panels, and community forums. Since 2006, Ms. Tyler has been the Director of the Community Health Systems Development Team (CHSD) at the Georgia Health Policy Center. She is responsible for leading the team of 18 professionals who provide technical assistance to ORHP grantees. She has served as a Technical Assistance Consultant for 46 Outreach, Network Planning, Workforce Development, and Delta States grantees, with a primary focus on wellness, health promotion and education, chronic disease management, oral health, and workforce recruitment and retention. Additionally, she has led the Georgia Health Policy Center’s efforts to formalize its approach to sustainability technical assistance. She directed a qualitative study of 100 past ORHP grantees to assess the sustained impact of the Rural Health Care Services Outreach and the Rural Health Network Development grant programs in rural communities. For the past 20 years, Ms. Tyler has served as the Executive Director of Georgia Health Decisions, a non-profit organization, through which she has developed hands-on experience in the sustainability of non-profit organizations and their programs.
