Since 1999, Tina Smith, MPH, has provided technical and adaptive support to more than 50 communities and 11 state- or multi-state level coalitions working to improve health outcomes and strengthen systems of care. Her experience includes a broad range of organizational development and programmatic consultation – planning, implementation, evaluation, technical assistance design, and grant making - tailored to address the specific needs and goals of diverse initiatives. As a Senior Research Associate at the Georgia Health Policy Center (1999-2008) she oversaw the conceptual and strategic development of the Health Policy Center’s research, policy, and technical assistance programs. In her capacity as Director of Community Health Systems Development, she designed and implemented innovative local, state, and national community health systems development initiatives and technical assistance programs based on first-hand experience working with “real people in real places”. Additional skills and interests include: designing innovative technical assistance tools that are systematic but flexible; translating insights from the field for use by communities, public agencies, and foundations; continuous learning and program improvement; and using systems thinking tools to understand and address complex, persistent problems. Tina is a rural Georgia native.
